Support OPA+

Asian Community AIDS Services (ACAS) is a charitable, non-profit, community-based organization located in Toronto, Canada. We provide safer sex education and services to the East and Southeast Asian communities and support services to persons living with HIV/AIDS and members of the LGBTQ communities.

The Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention (ASAAP) provides HIV/AIDS, sexual health and support services for South Asian communities in the Greater Toronto Area. Our vision is a world where South Asian communities have the access and means to determine their health and well-being. We are committed to providing health promotion, care, and support for self-identifying South Asians living with, at risk of, or affected by HIV/AIDS. (Check with ASAAP about tagline).

Agency

Involvement

The Ontario Positive Asians (OPA+) Network is an independent network for and by persons living with HIV. While the supporting agencies ACAS and ASAAP will support the network, OPA+ is an independent, self-organizing body led by Asians living with HIV in Ontario.

To facilitate the formation of OPA+, ACAS and ASAAP have committed financial and organizational support to the network in addition to funds provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada. Three staff members living with HIV (one HIV+ project coordinator and two agency representatives living with HIV) from the supporting agencies have been provided to support the OPA+ Advisory Committee members to achieve the networks’ goals to conduct a needs assessment for the target population as well as to hold the first OPA+ Caucus.
